The newest addition to the Lord Of The Rings video game collection Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is set to release this fall. While most of the previous games stick to Peter Jackson’s imagining of the franchise, Shadow of Mordor will take a departure and be based in the world as opposed to directly follow any previous story line.
OutsideXbox’s YouTube channel just released a new trailer focusing on some of the story of our angst filled protagonist.
The player takes control of Talion, a ranger who was turned into a ranger/wraith combination. From the trailer, it’s can be assumed that Talion will have a lot of adventuring and killing to do to figure out what went down for the orcs to kill his wife and son.
OutsideXbox also released a gameplay trailer which gives us some insight into the mechanics of the game and how easy it will be to fend off the forces of Mordor.
The fighting style seems reminiscent of the Arkham City game which is a great sign for gamers, and the “nemesis system” creates a personal affiliation in most battles with Orc leaders.
Having not played a LOTR game since the Lord of The Rings: The Return of The King, I anticipate this game to be a blast of nostalgia for a franchise I love, as well as an entertaining game to play with awesome mechanics.
Talion’s ability to switch from the real world to the wraith world could be OP, but with the unrelenting swarm of Orc armies, it should bring hours of slaying.
Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor will be released October 7th for next-gen consoles as well as previous incarnations and PC.
